The chemistry with your coach has to be right. To help you work out if I could be the right coach for you here’s how I would describe what you can expect from working with me. Just as importantly, I’ve included what you shouldn’t expect from coaching with me.
Coaching with me is…
Open and honest conversation on things that matter (with a bit of humour thrown in)
Focused development on agreed changes you want to make. We do the work in partnership
A way of understanding how others really experience working with you. This is backed up with evidence-based feedback to help you see the patterns playing out
Time to ask questions that challenge you and help you work out what you want to do about it
Non-judgmental discussion to explore your thinking on a confidential basis. You get unconditional support and time for you, which can be a rare thing in life!
New scientific research on physical intelligence and neuroscience with practical tools for you to use everyday to improve performance and relationships
A way to get unstuck and understand yourself better so you make better choices
A place to try on ideas and experiment so you find the right option at each different phase of life
A place to make informed and sometimes brave choices, shift your thinking and make progress on the things that are holding you back
What it is not
It’s not counselling or therapy, it’s also not fluffy nonsense
Meandering, unrealistic philosophical debate that is unconnected to what you want to achieve and the context you work/live in
Insight and research that has not been validated/backed up with clear examples
Someone who will listen to your woes and then fix them for you
A static agenda or someone pushing their agenda on you
Avoiding working on what’s really going on, who you really are and what makes you tick
A transactional and superficial cosy chat with no practical change
In addition to the breadth of my 25 years of experience in various roles in very different organisations and industries, I am a Professional Coach credentialed with the International Coaching Federation.
My coaching is grounded by a code of ethics and professional standards that sit behind the experience. I am trained to use profiling tools including Physical Intelligence, Thomas International DiSC, Gallup Strengths Finder, EQi (Emotional Intelligence) and Engage (Change Mindset Development) all of which can be used with feedback to develop self-awareness (to ground the coaching) and measure change.
I have experience of establishing coaching cultures in organisations and setting this up from scratch. This involves creating a coaching strategy, training managers as coaches, establishing a group of professionally trained internal coaches and selecting a group of external specialist coaches.
In one to one coaching, I tailor each coaching programme to the specific needs of the individual involved to ensure that the person and the organisation achieve the best possible outcome.
